10 Steps to Perfect Skin – the Korean Way

Have you ever wondered why Korean women has flawless and radiant skin? It is because Koreans view that their skin is the ultimate investment, worthy of their money and even more so, their time.

Korean beauties perform an intricate 10-step cleansing and moisturizing routine every night before going to bed. This shows how serious they are in their beauty regime!

If you desire flawless skin like the Koreans, here are the 10 Korean skin care secrets:

STEP 1: Pre-Cleanse

Koreans swear by the double cleansing method. The first step involves removing the BB creme and blush with a nutrient-rich towelette to erase every trace of makeup. Try Innisfree Olive Real Cleansing Tissue to prepare for the second part in your “double cleanse.” Remove eye makeup with a liquid remover.

Next, draw out sebum, bacteria and other skin impurities using a gentle cleansing oil like Rose Noir Argan Oil Facial Cleanser by French Girl Organics. After double cleansing, wash your wash with lukewarm water.

Step 2: Cleanse Again

Korean women believes that thorough cleansing is the key to radiant, acne-free complexion.

They clean their pre-cleansed skin with a mild cream or foaming cleanser. Never rub your skin while applying cleanser. Try KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr Foaming Cleansing that is infused with aloe vera, green tea and sandalwood leaves that will allow the skin feeling fresh, invigorated and clean. Always use circular motion with the finger tips.

Do Step 1 and 2 using the ’424′ technique as raved by Korean celebrities. What this means is you must clean your face with an oil (coconut, almond or any cleansing oil) for 4 minutes , follow it with a foaming cleanser for 2 minutes & then rinsing your face for 4 minutes, start with lukewarm water ending with cold water to close all opened pores.

Step 3: Exfoliate

We all know that we can get smooth skin is by removing the layer of dead skin cells on the surface. So, use an exfoliator like the Konjac Sponge to slough away dead skin cells. Don’t forget to exfoliate your pout too!

However, scrubbing your entire face every night can be of an overkill. Over-exfoliating can make your skin drier and more susceptible to infections and redness. Using a scrub two times a week is considered “safe & beneficial”. If you want to do this diligently, focus on the areas that need attention, like visible pores on your cheek and blackheads on the nose.

Step 4: Tighten up with Toner

The Koreans uses hydrating yet clarifying toner to soothe the skin and restore its pH balance. The toner will remove any residual residue from the prior three steps while soothing and preps your skin to better absorb serums and essence from the next step. Try Thesis Moisturizing and Restorative Facial Toner Raspberry Mint that combines powerful herbal extracts to curb blemishes and expedite skin’s healing.

Step 5: Use Essence Without Fail

This is the most essential part of the Korean skincare regime. Essence is a nourishing liquid concentrate that helps in skin’s cellular renewal process.

Spraying this essence also helps to firm up the skin. Korean women spray the essence on the face and tap it on the face to aid in faster absorption. Try 100% Pure & Organic Rose Water Mist & Facial Spray to pump skin up with natural antioxidants and skin-loving Vitamins A & C.

Step 6: Add an Ampoule

Ampoule is a condensed, vitamin-rich and potent version of essence with a thick consistency. Also known as serum, a single drop of ampoule is powerful enough to address all skin problems like wrinkles, dulling skin, uneven skin tone or loss of collagen and elasticity. Try Nourish Organic Face Serum, Pure Hydrating Argan Apricot and Rosehip to deeply hydrate and reveal smoother, softer and more supple skin with improved tone.

Step 7: Use Facial Mask Sheet

Here’s where you would typically apply one of those super-popular Korean facial sheet masks. Korean face sheets are infused with ingredients that were tried & tested by their ancestors and today they are most sought out skincare product all over the world. It is recommended to use facial mask sheets two to three times a week to get effective results. On your off-nights, supplement with a five-minute facial massage to boost circulation or opt for targeted treatments in the form of wrinkle fighting collagen eye patches and hydrating lip masks.

If you want to DIY,  homemade masks with egg white & honey mixture are an all-time favorite.

Step 8: Tap on the Eye Cream

Keep fine lines, puffiness and dark circles at bay with an intensive eye cream. When applying the product, do not tug or pull the skin – instead, tap it around the entire eye. This is done so the delicate eye area stays super moisturized so that it wont dry out and create even more fine lines.

Step 9: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Remember the comprehensive cleansing session that took place at the start of the process? You will now need to replenish your skin’s hydration levels with moisturizers. Use your fingertips to massage the moisturizer in your face to promote circulation. Don’t forget to moisturize your neck too.

Always use a light weight moisturizer that blends into the skin really fast without leaving it greasy. The Nourish Organic Ultra Hydrating Face Cream, Argan and Pomegranate has a rich, creamy formula that replenishes moisture, softens skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Step 10: Apply Night Cream

To get gorgeous flowing skin, you need to invest in a good night cream that allows your skin to breathe. The night cream acts as the second layer of moisturizer that helps the skin to lock the moisture in the skin throughout the night, so that when you wake up, you will look fresh and beautiful.

Many cultures may view the Korean beauty regime being extreme and time consuming. However, to the Koreans, these are standard procedures which they have learnt from their mothers at early age. They have learnt the art of cleansing the right way so that they can reap the flawless rewards later in life.
