Starting out with good intentions is what the New Year brings, and the essential detox is a must after the party season. Chocolates, cookies, wine, champagne and any other alcoholic drink you have consumed within this time frame needs to be flushed out of your system.

There are many products on the market that you can buy that will help to draw these toxins out of your body. Some of these products come in pill form, liquid form and even in patch forms. But they aren’t the only ways you can rid your body of toxins.

You can also rid your body of some of these toxins, with a hot, relaxing bath.

Yes, a detox bath is the simplest way to eliminate toxins and excess fat you have gained over the festive seasons. Doesn’t it sound more fun to relax in a hot tub of water than swallowing a bunch of pills or following some strict detox diet? Plus, it is easier.

In this Detox Bath, we will use detoxifying ingredients that will benefit your well being. However, if you have high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes, do not take a detox bath without consulting your health practitioner.

How Detox Bath Work?

The hot water will pull the toxins to the surface of your skin. Then as the water begins to cool, the poisons will slowly begin to seep out of your body. To ensure effective elimination of poison from your body, we will use the following detoxifying ingredients.

About the Ingredients

Dead Sea Salt: The use of Dead Sea bath salts at home is an effective way to relax and absorb the minerals of the Dead Sea. Research has proven the efficiency of Dead Sea bath salts in alleviating skin diseases such as psoriasis, by treatment that can be administered at home by using about 2 lbs. for each bath. It is also highly beneficial for relieving muscle tension or for simply relaxing and enjoying a rejuvenating experience.

Baking Soda: The baking soda is highly alkaline, thus making the detox bath a simple but remarkable therapeutic treatment for detoxification. It is especially helpful if you suffer from too little sleep, high stress, too much alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, chronic cold, flu or over medication. Baking soda balances an over acid system leaving you refreshed, invigorated, with extra soft skin.

Epsom Salt: Another simple way to draw toxins out of the body is to take a hot epsom salt bath. Hot water draws toxins out of the body to the skin’s surface, and while the water cools it pulls toxins from the skin. When magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) is absorbed through the skin in a bath, it helps to draw toxins from the body, reduce swelling and relax muscles.

GrapeFruit Essential Oil: Having a detoxifying effect on individuals recovering from substance abuse, grapefruit is antiviral, antiseptic, diuretic, and can aid the digestive system and skin. It refreshes the mind, relieves anxiety, is reviving, uplifting, and helps disperse negative energy. It may, however, increase photosensitivity.

Juniper Essential Oil : This powerful, detoxifying oil is a purifier, helps avert nervous tension, and reduces cellulite. Juniper essential oil is an antiviral, antiseptic, diuretic, and can help relieve pain, the symptoms of rheumatism, and expel uric acid from the system. Juniper’s spicy aroma helps to strengthen and fortify the spirit during times of low energy, anxiety, and emotional overload. The oil can irritate some people’s skin, and should be avoided during pregnancy.

Helichrysum Essential Oil: Ideal for use during a drug or alcohol detox, helichrysum helps stimulate liver cells, thin mucous secretions, and acts as a free radical scavenger. It is non-toxic and non-irritating.

Ingredients You Need

1 cup (250 ml) of dead sea salts

2 cups of baking soda

1 cup of Epsom salt

Essential oil ( 10 drop of grapefruit essential oil , 10 drops of juniper and 4 drops of helichrysum )

Steps

1. Combine the above ingredients into a jar.

2. Set the tone for your bath. Light some candles. Play some soft music. Make sure you have time to enjoy your bath. Also make sure you have drinking water on hand, near the tub.

3. Begin drawing the hot water into your tub. Make the water as hot as you can stand. The hotter the water the more toxins will be removed. Yet, you do not want to burn yourself. At the same time, pour in the ingredients that you have stored in the jar (step 1).

4. Stay in the tub as long as you can. A good twenty to thirty minute soaking is preferred. As you are soaking, drink some water, to help keep you from becoming dehydrated.

5. You can also use a loofah sponge on your skin as you are soaking; to help kneed the toxins to the top of your skin and eventually on out of your body.

6. After your bath, you may also want to rub some moisturizer onto your skin to prevent dryness.

by Jerry Hall Leo

There has been a lot in the news lately about the amazing healing properties of turmeric, a free-radical-fighting antioxidant-rich curry spice that has been hailed as a defense against both cancer and Alzheimer’s. When we found this tasty recipe for a warming, detoxifying ginger-turmeric tea, we were thrilled: after the holiday season, we figured we could use some detoxing and healing!

Then we tasted it, and were totally hooked: it’a delicious! Ginger and turmeric combine with citrus and maple syrup to make the perfect blend of healing nutrients. We streamlined the recipe to make it ultra-easy, too:

INGREDIENTS

2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger
1/2 teaspoon powdered turmeric
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Juice of 1/2 lemon

1. Bring water to a boil, then add powdered herbs. Simmer for 10 minutes.
2. Strain tea into a mug, add maple syrup and lemon, stirring to combine. Drink warm.

by Jerry Hall Leo

Drinking green tea may help you lose weight. According to clinical studies conducted by Dr. Abdul Dulloo, of the University of Geneva in Switzerland, green tea raises metabolic rates and speeds up fat oxidation. Green tea is also a great immune-enhancing health-booster and anti-cancer agent, with flavonoids and polyphenols thought to inhibit tumor formation.

So here is our easy-to-make recipe for green tea, but this one tastes so good you’ll never guess how good it is for you! A great, healthy thirst-quencher for hot summer days.

Simple Solution:

INGREDIENTS

6 green tea teabags
6 cups cold water
2 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced

1. Place teabags in a large teapot or pitcher.
2. Put sliced peaches in a saucepan, add cold water, and bring to a brisk boil, then pour water and peaches over teabags.
3. Steep for 6 minutes, then add sweetener (maple syrup, honey or Succanat are recommended). Allow tea to cool, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
4. Include a few peach slices in each glass and serve with a spoon, garnished with a sprig of mint, if you like.

Even Easier Alternative Method: Make a pitcher of green tea and add the contents of a can of organic sliced peaches. Chill thoroughly.

Makes 6 servings.
