The definition of massage is the scientific and systematic manipulation of soft tissue. However, massage is both a science and an art form. It really blends thinking and feeling.

Besides being fun and relaxing, massage is one of the oldest healing art forms. Primarily because it works and it’s something everyone can do and benefit from.

Massage Therapy has been shown to:
• Feel more relaxed at anytime
• Counteract the health destroying effects of stress
• Experience tons more bodily pleasure
• Reduce muscle aches and pains
• Express more love, passion, and connection
• Bring instant soothing relief to tight neck & back muscles
• Have more fun in your relationship
• Improve overall body circulation
• Promote a better night’s sleep
• Calm the nervous system
• Enhance your sense of well-being
• Detox the body and the muscles
• Connect with your partner at a deeper level
• Keep your body young and healthy
• Put some more spice into your lovelife

Nevertheless, the single most important benefit of massage is that it feels really GOOD!

Curious to find out how you can achieve that? Click here

Here are more DIY Stress Management Techniques…(continued from Simple Ways to Manage Stress 2)

4. Practice deep breathing
A good instant de-stresser is to stop and breathe in, through your nose for a count of seven and then out through your nose for a count of eleven. Do this several times until you feel calmer.

To enhance this technique further, use aromatherapy and listen to relaxing music.

5. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has been proven to be excellent for stress relief. If you’re always feeling stress at work, try to bring aromatherapy into the workplace. Inhaling different essential oils can alter your mood, stimulate creativity, help concentration and rid an area of airborne viruses and bacteria.
Usually, pure essential oils are usually massaged into the skin, but there are other ways to use them:

White Diffuser from Amazon.com

Use a diffuser or nebulizer to heat the essential oil. This will allows their molecules to be released into the atmosphere giving you instant benefit.

Place a few drops on a handkerchief or pillow, or in a bowl of hot water, and breathe in.

Drizzle a little onto a cotton ball placed on a hot radiator, or buy a vaporising ring to place on a lightbulb.

A few drops in a hot bath can relax muscles and ease aches, insomnia and arthritis.

Certified Essential Oil Blends by MountainRoseHerbs.com

Relaxing and calming oils include: bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, juniper, lavender and sandalwood. Certified (by OTCO) 100% pure steam distilled oils can be found at MountainRoseHerbs.com

Caution: Take advice before using essential oils at home if you are pregnant or have a medical condition.

3. Keep a miniature garden

Gardens are usually wonderfully stress-free environments, – but it isn’t always possible to stroll round one when you need a break.

So why not take a tip from the Japanese and create a miniature garden.
Miniature garden allow you to keep it close to hand so you can gaze at it and enjoy a sense of nature whenever you feel like it.

Japanese bonsai trees are one way to create your own miniature garden, but you can improvize, making use of shells, sand, earth, and stones as well as small plants.

We’ve done quite a fair bit of surfing on this topic and we like the miniature gardens in the http://twogreenthumbs.com/library/library.html

Here are some simple stress management techniques. Rather than trying to do them all, choose the ones that appeal to you and fit into your daily routine.

1. Drop your shoulders
Try to relax your shoulders whenever you can. If you’re queuing, or waiting for the kettle to boil, consciously relax your shoulders and let go of any stress that may have built up. If you don’t, stress may accumulate in your neck and shoulders and can also register as wrinkles on your face.

2. Exercise your hands
Komboloi or Worry Beads have been relieving the Greek of stress and their bad habits for centuries. Komboloi or Worry Beads are considered to be a form of therapy for so many Greeks living and working in today’s fast-paced world. From quitting smoking, to stopping their over-eating problem, Komboloi Worry beads have aided millions with ventilating the daily pressures and stresses. All you do is hold the beads and work your fingers through them, slowly and regularly. This repetitive movement can be extremely calming.
