Decoding the Fruit

Do you notice the sticker label on fruits?

Apparently, the label tell you how the fruits were grown (according to a circulated email I received from my friend, Yin, With that, I cannot guarantee how genuine this information is but it is good to know).

With the code, you can tell if the fruit has been organically grown or conventionally grown with pesticides and herbicides; and the genetically engineered fruits.

Conventional Fruit Labels

Four digit and does not start with 9  (mostly starting with the digit 4)

Organic Fruit Label

Five digits and start with the number 9

Genetically Modified Fruit

Start with the digit 8

So if you come across an apple and it’s label is 4922, it’s an conventional apple grown with pesticides and herbicides.

If it has a sticker 999922, it is organic and safe to eat.

If it bears the number 89222, it’s a genetically modified fruit (GMO).

In other words, the next time you go shopping, remember to make your choice and know how to avoid buying inorganic and GMO Fruits.

Thanks for sharing, I never knew this about fruit labels. It’s important to know where your food comes from and what was done to it before.
